Wally Hatford - full name Wallace James- is the third son of Tom and Ellen Hatford. He goes to fourth grade at Buckman Elementary with Caroline Malloy.

Wally is less eager to get even on the girls than his older brothers, Jake and Josh. He prefers a quiet place to do just nothing. But he does want to get revenge on Caroline sometimes.

Wally is chosen to be Caroline's love interest by her. Wally is constantly being bugged by her since she is sitting right behind him. When Wally doesn't return the same feelings to Caroline she had for him she pretends to die. Wally calls for help only to find out she wasn't really dead but all is resolved between the two at the end.
